17 MAKEUP HACKS THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE

If you’re a makeup lover, then you probably have one or two questionable techniques that work like magic. Hear me out, the following hacks may seem odd but, I dare you…no I DOUBLE DARE to try at least one (or five) and watch your makeup game go from a 10 to a hunnit! Plus, you might save a little bit money while you’re at it, SCORE!

Let’s get to it:

  1. USING EYESHADOW INSTEAD OF AN EYEBROW PENCIL
Did you know that you can use your eyeshadow to fill in your eyebrows instead of an eyebrow pencil by picking an eyeshadow colour that closely resembles your eyebrow hair (i.e. brown, dark brown, etc.). This also gives you a more natural, hair-like finish to your brows.
  2. USING EYESHADOW AS A BASE FOR CLEAR LIPGLOSS
Buying different shades of lip glosses can become quite costly. Try using your eyeshadow as a base for your lip gloss. Thank me later, mwah!
  3. EYESHADOW AS BLUSH OR BLUSH AS EYESHADOW
For a quick cute beat, you can use your blush as eyeshadow or your eyeshadow as blush. This gives your makeup a more cohesive look and it looks super cute.
  4. USING YOUR OLD MASCARA WAND TO BRUSH/DEFINE BROWS
No spoolie? no problem. If you’ve used your mascara to death and it has dried out, DO NOT THROW IT AWAY. Chuck the body, keep the lid/wand, wash it and use it to brush your eyebrows out.
  5. VASELINE ON MASCARA WAND AS A DIY EYEBROW GEL
You can also use a little bit of Vaseline as a form of an eyebrow gel. Be careful with this one. Too much Vaseline will have your brows looking quite greasy. Proceed with caution your highness.
  6. FOUNDATION OR FOUNDATION STICK AS A CONTOUR
I personally love using a darker foundation or foundation stick to contour. It seems less “harsh” than the conventional concealer and it blends out much easier.
  7. BRONZER AS EYESHADOW
You can never go wrong with a brown smokey eye. If you don’t have a brown eyeshadow fierce enough for you then use your bronzer as eyeshadow. Trust me, you’ll love this one.
  8. ORANGE LIPSTICK TO COLOUR CORRECT
If you need to cancel out those blemishes but forgot to get orange concealer? No problem, use an orange lipstick to colour correct, blend it out, set it with loose translucent powder and continue with your foundation routine.
  9. EYEBROW PENCILS AS LIP LINERS
If you didn’t know, now you know… eyebrow pencils make great lip liners too.
  10. USING HAIR GLUE/GEL AS EYELASH GLUE
I have to admit; I was a bit hesitant with this at first but the hair glue nation argued that your eyelash hair is hair too. Apparently the hold is better than your regular eyelash glue. Hmm.
  11. USING CONCEALER AS AN EYESHADOW PRIMER
Eyeshadow primer might seem like an extra unnecessary step but, it’s necessary in order to get the most out of your eyeshadow colour. Your concealer will work just as well. Use it as an eyeshadow primer and watch your eyeshadow flourish.
  12. USING CONCEALER AS A LIPSTICK
To get the perfect nude lipstick, take your concealer, put a little on your lips (as you would your lipstick). Top it off with lip gloss et voila, the perfect nude lippie. Yum!
  13. USING WATER AS SETTING SPRAY
If you’ve run out of setting spray and need to set your makeup, don’t run to the tap just yet. Make sure that you use filtered water and spray your face. Makeup set.
  14. LIPSTICK AS A CREAM BLUSH
I recently started implementing this gem of a hack and the results are stunning. Using lipstick as a cream blush really makes your blush stand out…in a good way.
  15. EYESHADOW AS HIGHLIGHTER
Use your shimmer shades as a highlighter and shine shine shine!
  16. USING TAPE TO HELP YOU DRAW THE PERFECT WING LINER
If you struggle getting your wing liner right, try putting tape on the sides of your eyes, draw your liner and remove the tape. The result? Eye liner sharp enough to kill (the makeup nay-sayers of course)
  17. USING BAR SOAP/GLUE/GEL FOR YOUR EYEBROWS
I think we’ve all seen this trend but, if you don’t know what I’m talking about…where have you been? Slightly wet your bar of soap, rub your wand onto it and brush out your brows. You can use this technique to create a fluffly eyebrow look or to keep your eyebrow hairs in place.
  18. Pheww and it’s a wrap. How many of these hacks were you already using and which ones are you keen to try? Let me know in the comment section below, I love hearing from you.
